EUCVT Webinar Networks of professionals supporting victims of terrorism: What role do they play, how do they work, how can they help?

An E-UCVT Webinar took place last Tuesday, 28 May, hosted by the Directorate General for Support to Victims of Terrorism (Spanish Ministry of Interior).

Many of us who work with victims of terrorism in the Member States of the EU are familiar with Victims Support Europe, the Radicalisation Prevention Network (RAN), INVICTIM and other networks of victim-support professionals. The European Commission’s own Centre of Expertise for Victims of Terrorism (EUCVT) acts as a HUB for professionals. Some of these networks offer support and services to victims in addressing both their material and emotional needs. In other cases they are communities for the exchange of experiences and knowledge.

But do we really know who these organizations really are, the activities they carry out, who their members are and how they are organized?

In this webinar we introduced to the public some of the most relevant organizations through their representatives and above we could unfold a debate in a round table format on their experiences, both in the support of victims and in the loyalty and commitment of the members of their organizations.

During this webinar, we had presentations from

  • Radicalization Prevention Network and its Victims of Terrorism Group
  • Victim Support Europe
  • The Spanish Network of Psychologists for the Care of Victims of Terrorism
  • INVICTM
  • HAPSS (Humanitarian Assistance & Psychosocial Support) subgroup, belonging to the Counter Terrorism Preparedness Network (CTPN)
  • AENVR.
