The second study visit was held on 14-16 October 2024 in Paris, France, where experts from Croatia, Germany, Latvia and Lithuania came together to discuss part of the national measures set up for victims of terrorism from the hours following the attack, the trial phase, and up to the commemoration stage.
The experts were able visit the historic “exceptional trial room” of the Paris court of appeal, built in 2020 mainly to host the trials of the large-scale terrorist attacks France suffered since 2015 and with a special attention to victim’s protection and support. During the presentation of the future Memorial Museum of Terrorism, which will open in 2027 in Surenes, they had the chance to exchange with a victim of terrorism. The MMT will be a place of remembrance and a museum of history and society. It will be unique as it doesn’t focus on a single event but rather on all the acts of terrorism committed in France or against French people abroad from 1974 to the present day.
