The ENVR study visit took place in Bucharest hosted by our Romanian colleagues at the Ministry of Justice and the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest Tribunal.
Over two days, participants from across Europe exchanged experiences and learned about Romania’s progress in handling cases of sexual offences against minors. Key topics included the legislative and institutional framework, specialized prosecutorial working groups, the use of the NICHD Protocol, child-friendly hearing facilities, and inter-institutional cooperation with the police and NGOs.
We were also glad to meet the VIS Association, whose important work in supporting victims provided valuable insights and inspiration for all participants.
These visits are a cornerstone of ENVR’s work — offering a unique opportunity to share best practices, strengthen cooperation, and ensure better protection of victims’ rights across the EU.
A warm thank you to our Romanian hosts for their excellent organisation and hospitality!
The next ENVR study visit will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, in October 2025.
