The Victim Support Europe webinar “Building a Lifeline for Victims Across Europe – The 116 006 Helpline”

The Victim Support Europe webinar “Building a Lifeline for Victims Across Europe – The 116 006 Helpline” brought together practitioners, policymakers, and experts to explore how the 116 006 victims’ helpline can be effectively implemented, operated, and sustained across Europe.

The webinar highlighted key minimum standards for 116 006 helplines, including:
🔹 free, confidential, and accessible support for all victims
🔹 professional, well-trained helpline staff
🔹 availability and clear referral pathways
🔹 strong visibility and awareness-raising at national level
🔹 real-life models from NGO-led, hybrid, and state-led systems across Europe

📰 Important update:
On 10 December 2025, the Council and the European Parliament provisionally agreed that all EU Member States will be required to establish the 116 006 victims’ helpline — a major step towards ensuring equal support for victims across the EU.
